How do we formulate?
Ingredients that look good on paper aren't enough.
Bioavailability = the missing ingredient
Vitamin E exists in olive oil. But the molecule is too large to penetrate the skin barrier in its natural state, it sits on top and does very little. Biotech allows us to process it to a size that actually absorbs. This is why "natural" and "effective" aren't opposites when you have the right knowledge.
Drawing inspiration from light therapy and antidepressant research, we identified a specific target: Monoamine Oxidase A, or MAO-A. MAO-A is the enzyme that breaks down serotonin. Inhibiting it is one of the mechanisms behind both light therapy and certain antidepressants. Linden sapwood contains compounds with MAO-A inhibiting properties. By acting on this enzyme, the aim is to support serotonin levels and limit the ways chronic stress shows up in skin: inflammation, reactivity, and barrier disruption. Biotech extraction concentrates these compounds from the sapwood to levels raw plant material cannot reach. In Forever You, that is the science behind the skin-mood connection.

Physical exfoliation has a bad reputation in sensitive skincare, and it is earned. Most scrubs use particles that are irregular in shape and inconsistent in size. On reactive skin, that means more inflammation, not less. The issue is not exfoliation itself. It is control. Biotech processing allows us to mill cranberry seeds to a uniform size and smooth shape that lifts dead skin without damaging the barrier. In What A Peeling, that is how sensitive and eczema-prone skin gets to exfoliate safely
Skin barrier first. Always.
The skin barrier is your first line of defence. Every BBK formula is designed to support it, not strip it, not overwhelm it. No surfactants that disrupt your acid mantle. No actives that create reactive damage in pursuit of 'results.' Barrier support is built in from the first ingredient choice.
The microbiome layer
Your skin hosts a complex ecosystem that protects, regulates, and repairs. Most skincare actively disrupts it with preservatives that can't tell the difference between harmful bacteria and your protective flora. BBK formulas are microbiome-aware by design.
The nervous system connection
Stress flares eczema. Touch calms cortisol. Scent triggers the limbic system before you've consciously registered it. Every BBK ritual is designed with this conversation in mind, Teja studied it for years and built it into every product intentionally, not decoratively.
No fear-based formulation
We don't choose ingredients because they're trending or because they test well on marketing surveys. Every ingredient in every BBK product is there because Teja researched its profile, its bioavailability, its interaction with sensitive skin. That's the only checklist.
Full vertical control. No shortcuts.
No white-labelling. No outsourced formulation. Teja personally develops every formula. This means we can iterate faster, maintain complete transparency from lab to shelf, and guarantee that what's on the ingredient label is exactly what reaches your skin.

"I didn't just want ingredients that look good on paper. I wanted ingredients that actually do something."
